sooo it kinda pisses me off on a personal level, that the word "rave" is so ill-received by the ignorant, who have never been to a rave themselves and have only heard of raves in association with drug usage. someone needs to invent a new word for these festivals of music, illuminations, art & good vibes. i am a living example that you don't need to be cracked out on drugs to enjoy a rave. if you have an open mind and have enough balls to not be scared of the people around you, anyone can appreciate the beauty of the rave. the drugs that people do while at them, are just secondary. just like you go to a concert and drink beer to loosen up, but you don't need to drink a beer to enjoy the concert because you came there for your favorite band. the substance just enhances the experience.
there's only so much one can write in order to express him or herself. nowadays, freedom of expression is at it's height with the use of twitter and facebook statuses. yet at the same time, there is too large of a pool of information & expression going around that now we are limited in the attention span we can ask for from our audience. info bites of 140 characters at a time, is just enough to keep the online world flowing but are we really understood thoroughly? i think not.. twitter exists for the love & art of rhetoric. simply to evoke some kind of feeling to the reader or convince, or entertain them. we are forced to be concise and crafty in how we say what we really WANT to say but can only fit into a fraction of your time and attention. this economy constantly reminds us that time is money and of both time & money, we are, therefore, thrifty.
so there isn't always enough time or few enough words to convey all that encompasses a rave, except to call it a "rave." that is why, the ignorant will remain ignorant until they can think of their own definitions of such a word and disregard all negative or positive connotations of it. keep it neutral until you find out for yourself.
